Your 2023 Word

If New Year’s resolutions aren’t your thing, a much simpler approach has entered the mainstream realm in recent years. In lieu of focusing on goals, choosing one, personal word to focus on for the year is an effective way to embrace simplicity while keeping your greater intentions in mind.

Powerful words like limitless, confident, mindful, abundant, and courageous are all examples of one-word mantras that will serve as a reminder and motivation for what you wish to embody.

Whatever your word is, make sure it strikes a personal chord with you and the life you desire to live. Here is a quick and easy process to find the perfect word for 2023.

1. Take Personal Inventory

Do some soul-searching by contemplating the following questions: Who do you want to be in 2023? What do you want to feel more of? Where do you want to grow and develop? What impact do you want to make on the world? What do you need more of in your life that will bridge the gap between your current state and your desired state?

2. Brain Dump

Dump all the words that come to you in your journal, then cross them off one-by-one until you get to the word that resonates with you the most. For me personally, I already had a few words in mind before I made my list, but was surprised by another word that stood out on my page. I ended up going with a word I had not expected- but had inspired me the most.

3. See it Everyday

Keep your word relevant by putting it in a spot where you can see it every day. This can be on your mirror, vision board, vehicle, fridge, planner, a reminder on your phone, or all the above! You can also incorporate it in an affirmation. The more you can keep your word in the forefront of your mind throughout the day, the more you program your mind to act in accordance with it.

4. Keep a Record

Keep your momentum going by keeping a daily/weekly log of specific ways you have exemplified your word. How does your word inspire you to take action? In what specific ways are you living up to your intention? You will increase your odds of sticking with by tracking your progress over time.

If you still need a little inspiration on your word, don’t fret- I have included a list of 50 powerful words below. Go with your gut, what inspires you, and what is relevant to your life and aspirations.
