The Five Symbolic Meanings of Fall

Fall Equinox is here! Fall is my favorite time of year for many reasons. When I think of fall on the surface, I think of bright colored leaves, cozy jackets, fireplaces, and pumpkin spiced everything. What is there not to love?

While all of these things are exciting, there are five deeper symbolic meanings that fall represents:

  1. Harvest:

Did you know that Autumn is associated with abundance, prosperity, and wealth? Just like the farmer who reaps his harvest, Fall is the time for us to reap harvest on all that we have worked towards this year. This is the time to really enjoy the fruits of our labor! What is something you can enjoy more of this season?

2. Reflection

This season is a good time for reflection. What have your highlights been so far this year? What goals have you accomplished? What lessons have you learned? What will you continue to improve on?

3. Letting Go

Like the trees that begin shed their leaves, it is also a good time for us to shed anything in our life that does not serve us. Ask yourself, “Is there anything in my life still holding me back from living a completely free and abundant life? (Note, this could be other people, circumstances, or your own internal thoughts and beliefs!)

4. Comfort

As the temperature drops, many seek comfort in warm fireplaces, cozy clothing, and hot beverages. While it is important to seek external comfort, it is also important for you to provide comfort within. This is a time to not be so hard on yourself. Be your own friend and cheerleader and lift yourself up! Kindness, after all, is what we need the most these days.

5. Embracing Change

To say 2020 has been different this year would be an understatement. It has been jam packed full of hardships and challenges. In the midst of so much chaos and fear, I am still a firm believer that all things happen towards our highest good. Trust solves everything now. Trust in the bigger picture of things, and yield to the individual lessons and teachings that have been designed for you. If we embrace change rather than resist it, we will free ourselves up to embrace a powerful and bright future.

I hope you all have a wonderful fall harvest, friends. Remember to be kind to yourself this season, and kind to others. We are all in this together.

Cheering you on,
